By 1816, Abraham Lincoln's father, Thomas, decided to move his family from their Knob Creek home to southern Indiana. At this site, the confluence of Knob Creek and the Rolling Fork, the elder Lincoln launched a raft and made his way to the Salt River, then the Kentucky River, the Ohio River and eventually to an Indiana site where he would establish a homestead and prepare for the arrival of Mrs. Lincoln, daughter Sarah and son Abe. |
